Our Practice

Bona Vista Physiotherapy has been providing an excellent service to Mackay and surrounding areas since the 1980's. Previously owned by Cathryn Bishop, the practice has been owned and operated by David Straker since 2000,  In 2020, the time for change had arrived.  Seeing an opportunity to relocate to Victoria Point on the Redlands Coast, Bona Vista Physiotherapy sadly closed the chapter in Mackay and made the journey south.  March 2020, saw Bona Vista Physiotherapy open in Victoria Point Shores on Colburn Avenue Victoria Point.

Our aim is to accurately assess and treat our clients in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.  To achieve the best outcome for our patients a quality holistic assessment and accurate diagnosis is the basis for determining the appropriate treatment and management of your injury.  David takes into consideration your lifestyle, recreational activities and expectations throughout your consultation to determine the best course to help you recover. Upon completion of your examination a full explanation of your problem and a treatment plan will be discussed with you.

David has a strong interest in musculo-skeletal injuries and has extensive experience with post operative knee reconstruction and shoulder repairs.  He maintains good communication with the medical community including local and city Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Having completed a Masters in Physiotherapy Manipulative Therapy (University of South Australia) in 1999, he continues to specialize in "hands on" manual therapy for treatment to muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves.

Injury prevention is also an important part of your treatment. Exercise rehabilitation and preventative care to reduce the risk of recurrence is essential.  David can give you the right advice and treatment to get you back to what you love.

David's vision is to  combine 30 years experience with a one on one approach to your treatment, to provide you with the best service available in physiotherapy at a competitive price.  Rest assured you will be informed of treatment options and realistic outcomes.
